Cabinet approves two percent Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensionersw.e.f. 01.01.2018 representing an increase of 2% over the existing rate of 5% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise.

This will benefit about 48.41 lakh Central Government employees and 61.17 lakh pensioners.

The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs.6077.72 crore per annum and Rs.7090.68 crore in the financial year 2018-19 (for a period of 14 months from January, 2018 to February, 2019).

This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Sub: Inclusion of accidental death/injury due to natural calamities while performing in operational duties/movements during deployment on Line of Actual Control (LAC) under Category D of Para 1 Clause (iii) of Ministry of Defence letter No.2(1)/2011/D(Pen/Policy) dated 3rd February 2011.

Sir,
The undersigned is directed to refer to this Ministry’s letter No.2(1)/2011/D(Pen/Policy) dated 03.02.2011 vide which it was inter-alia decided to cover three new circumstances under category D of Para 4.1 of this Ministry’s letter No. 1(2)/97/D(Pen-C) dated 31.01.2001.

2. Following amendments are carried out under category ‘D’ of Para 1 Clause (iii) of Ministry of Defence letter No. 2(1)/2011/D(Pen/Policy) dated 3rd February 2011 
For :- Accidental death/injury sustained due to natural calamities such as flood, avalanches, landslides, cyclone, fire and lightening or drowning in river while performing operational duties/movement in action against enemy forces and armed hostilities in operational area to include deployment on international border of line of control.

3. Cases already settled prior to the date of issue of this letter will not be reopened.

4. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Division of this Ministry vide their ID No. 10(4)/2010/Fin/Pen dated 01.03.2018.

Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates DoPT Workshop on International Women’s Day

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated a workshop on International Women’s Day here today. The day long Workshop was organised by DoPT on the theme of “Women Empowerment, Opportunities and Challenges.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jitendra Singh said we need to look at women’s issues in a new perspective of the 21st century. He said, today women are leading in almost all fields including the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Armed Forces. The Minister said, the challenge for women today is how to use their evolving potential to the best.

Several women achievers in various fields and creativity were awarded on the occasion.

Secretary, DoPT, Shri C. Chandramouli, Director General, Doordarshan, Smt. Supriya Sahu and renowned classical dance artist Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan were also present at the event.

As per the provisions of the Section 12(2) of the RTI act, 2005, the Central information Commission shall consist of :- The Chief Information Commissioner and Such number of Central Information Commissioners not exceeding ten as may be deemed necessary. Presently, the Chief Information Commissioner and six Information Commissioners are posted in the Central Information Commission.

Women Employees (Group C & D) of Indian Railways Honored for their Outstanding Services

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Railway Women’s Welfare Central Organisation (RWWCO) today honored 32 women employees for their exemplary dedication, integrity and courage in discharge of their duties. The women have been working as Track Maintainers, Technician, Loco-pilot, Women Head Constable, Chief Matron, Senior Messenger, Data Entry Operator, Porter, Khallasi, Safaiwali among others and contributing to the smooth functioning of Indian Railways across varied Zones. The list of the women honored today is appended.

On this occasion, prominent persons who are working in the field of women’s empowerment were also felicitated. Among these Shri Anshu Gupta (Founder of Goonj, an NGO), Shri Amod Kanth, Head Of Prayas, an NGO), Shri Anil Modgil & Shri Sunil Modgil Brothers And Founders Of Arushi a Bhopal based NGO. Mrs. Manju Devi Yadav FirstWoman Porter from Northern India was also honored today by RWWCO.

The Railway Women’s Welfare Central Organisation is the apex body of the chain of Women’s Welfare Organisations spread across all Zones of Indian Railways and engaged in the task of welfare of Railwaymen and their families through need based socio/welfare activities. The organization started its activities in 1962 after Indo-China war.

In continuation to this Department’s OM of even no. dated 01.02.2018 regarding holding of 30th meeting of Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies(SCOVA) under the chairmanship of Hon’ble MOS(PP), the date, time and venue of the meeting is as under:-

Date and Time: 23rd March, 2018 (Friday) at 10.30 am
Venue: Committee Room-A, Vigyan Bhawan Annexe Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi 
2. Because of the constraint of the space only one representative may attend the above said meeting. It is requested that the name of the member nominated to attend the meeting may kindly
be send to the undersigned.

3. Only one outstation member will be paid TA/DA and local members will be paid conveyance charges in accordance with the rules/instructions. Outstation members will be paid TA/DA as per their last entitlement on retirement. Representatives of Pensioners Associations who are entitled for journey by air and also entitled to journey by air as per this Department’s letter no. 42111/2014-P&PW(G) dated 19.05.2014 may purchase their Air Tickets from Air India only (at Booking Counters/website of Air India) or by utilising the services of Autorised Travel Agency i.e Balmer Lawrie & Company/IRCT/M/s Ashok Travels & Tours.

4. The emphasis of the Government is for cashless transaction. Hence, it is requested to fill up the Mandate Form enclosed. The TA/DA reimbursement would be made through e-payment mode afterwards.
